📍 What is Casa Firjan?

Casa Firjan is housed in a historic mansion from 1902 that was once the residence of the Guinle family, one of the most traditional in Rio de Janeiro.

Today, the space is managed by Firjan and functions as a center for innovation, culture, creativity and reflection on the future of industry and the state’s economy.

But don’t think of it as something corporate or closed.

It’s open to the public.
It’s free.
And it’s surprisingly pleasant.

🌿 Our Experience: A Refuge in the Middle of Botafogo

The feeling when you enter is immediate: the noise of the city disappears.

The gardens are large, well-kept, full of old trees and lawns perfect for sitting, chatting or simply doing nothing.

It’s the kind of place where you go “just for a walk” and end up staying for hours.

We’ve visited on sunny days and on quieter afternoons. In both situations, the atmosphere is always light and welcoming.

🎨 Exhibitions and Cultural Program

Casa Firjan is not static.

We find something new every time we visit:

  • Temporary exhibitions
  • Immersive installations
  • Creative events
  • Talks and debates
  • Workshops
  • Children’s programs

We’ve seen exhibitions on innovation, cultural identity, memory and even historical corporate exhibitions – like the Granado exhibition, which was beautiful.

Mediated visits take place regularly, usually on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

It’s always worth checking the official schedule on the website before you go.

☕ Emporio Jardim at Casa Firjan: The Best Coffee in the Garden

You can’t talk about Casa Firjan without mentioning Emporio Jardim.

Voted the best breakfast in Rio several times, this unit is one of the most charming.

There are two environments:

– Outdoor area in the garden
– Indoor area in the historic palace

How it works:
Tuesday to Friday: 9am to 7pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 7pm
Last order: 6.30pm

It doesn’t take reservations.
It’s on a first-come, first-served basis.
And on weekends, the queue can be long.

But it’s well worth it.

Yes – very much so.

Casa Firjan is one of the most interesting free tours in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

It offers something that few tourist attractions do: a break.

While many places in Rio are about movement, landscape and intensity, Casa Firjan is about breathing, observing, walking slowly, sitting on the grass, sipping a coffee calmly and letting time pass.

If you:

And the best part: it’s free.

🌿 Our Honest Opinion

After going on completely different days – one with the Junta Local Fair, sampling gastronomy and enjoying the creative movement… and another quieter one, just us and the Emporio Jardim – we realized something:

Casa Firjan is never the same.

It changes according to the schedule.
It changes according to the day.
It changes according to your mood.

It’s the kind of place you recommend without fear.

And it always makes you want to come back.
