A Legacy That Spans Generations
Since 1967, Terraço Itália has been a symbol of elegance, romance, and fine dining. Perched at the top of the iconic Edifício Itália in downtown São Paulo, this legendary restaurant has witnessed the city’s transformation over the decades — constantly reinventing itself without losing its essence.
If you’re looking for a special night out, this is the perfect blend of history, architecture, and gourmet cuisine.

Easy to Get There: Prime Location in Downtown São Paulo
You’ll find Terraço Itália at Avenida Ipiranga, 344 — right in the heart of the city. Traffic can be heavy, especially in the late afternoon, but rideshare services work smoothly. To avoid parking hassles, we recommend leaving the car at home or using the valet service.
The central location also makes it ideal to combine with a day of sightseeing before wrapping up with a sunset dinner.

Three Distinct Spaces for Different Moods in Terraco Italia São Paulo
Terraço Itália offers three different areas to match different experiences:
- The main dining room – great for romantic or formal dinners
- The bar with live music – more casual and perfect for drinks with a view
- The observation deck – ideal for admiring the city and taking great photos
Each space serves its purpose well. Choose based on the vibe you’re looking for.

Elegant Menu Featuring Contemporary Italian Cuisine
Our order: appetizers and dessert only
We chose two dishes that perfectly showcased the restaurant’s culinary talent:
- Appetizer: Burrata with puff pastry, fresh tomato, and pesto
- Desserts: One with red fruits, chocolate, and cream; the other a ganache with artisan ice cream
Beautifully plated, the burrata delivered a perfect balance of textures and flavors. Equally impressive were the desserts, both in taste and presentation. While the fruit-based option was light and refreshing, the ganache — topped with gold flakes and served with creamy ice cream — brought a luxurious and rich contrast.
Even without main courses, we left completely satisfied.
Wine and Drinks List: Expansive and Approachable
We ordered a glass of Italian white wine and a Brazilian sparkling wine — both served at the perfect temperature and reasonably priced. The sommelier gave excellent explanations and recommendations.
The wine list includes bottles from R$180 to over R$1000, but you’ll also find plenty of by-the-glass options between R$38 and R$60 — making wine pairing easy without overspending.
Pricing: High, but Justified by the Full Experience
Yes, Terraço Itália is expensive. But it’s also one of the few places in São Paulo offering a complete package: atmosphere, service, view, and cuisine.
Our bill — two desserts, one appetizer, and two drinks — was around R$400. For a full dinner with entrées and wine, expect to spend R$600 to R$900 per couple.
Dress Code: What to Wear at Terraco Italia São Paulo
The restaurant requires smart casual attire. That means no flip-flops, shorts, or overly casual outfits. Opt for a dress shirt, elegant blouse, or dress.
Dressing the part adds to the refined atmosphere and shows respect for the venue.

The best days are Tuesdays through Thursdays, when the ambiance is quieter and more relaxed.
We also recommend booking between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM — this way, you’ll catch the sunset, enjoy your meal slowly, and witness the city lights come to life. That natural-to-night transition truly elevates the experience.
