π The History of CADEG: From the Municipal Market to the Gastronomic Hub
The history of CADEG begins at the beginning of the 20th century, during the great urban reforms of Mayor Pereira Passos, who was responsible for modernizing Rio de Janeiro.
The first Municipal Market was inaugurated in 1907, in the Praça XV area. Decades later, with the construction of the Avenida Perimetral and the redevelopment of the central area, traders had to reorganize.
After years of mobilization and organization, a plot of approximately 100,000 square meters was acquired on Rua CapitΓ£o FΓ©lix, in Benfica.
